Polar Plunge

Join the Mystic River Watershed Association for its first ever Polar Plunge. The January plunge into chilly waters is meant to promote recreational uses of the Mystic River, and it also helps celebrate the organization's 40th birthday. It takes place Saturday at 1 p.m. at Constitution Beach, Coleridge Street, East Boston. Weather's looking to be partly sunny with temperatures in the upper 40s, not exactly balmy, but not as cold as it could be. Pre-registration is recommended.

As always, head over to the Saturday for the winter farmers market. It's also a great time to hear live music, grab some lunch and run into neighbors. The market runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
