Sandra Bullock Movie Filming Near Inman Square, With Somerville Staging Area

Beacon Street in Somerville will be home to the film crew from Aug. 8 to 13.

A Sandra Bullock movie, The Heat, will be filming near Inman Square on Aug. 9, 10 and 13, and Beacon Street in Somerville will be a staging area for the film crew's trucks and equipment.

The Heat is a buddy cop comedy also staring Melissa McCarthy, best known for her role in Bridesmaids.

It has been filming in and the Boston area for about the last month.

Inman Square filming will take place at a hospital in Cambridge—near Somerville—according to Ini Tomeu, a spokesperson for the city of Cambridge.

Jackie Rossetti, a spokesperson for Somerville, said filming will take place on Thursday, Friday and Monday. However, the film crew will be using Beacon Street in Somerville as a staging area from Wednesday, Aug. 8, through Monday, Aug. 13.

As a result, there will be no parking on Beacon Street between Washington Street and Morgan Street on those days. The street will remain open to traffic.

Rossetti said producers of The Heat originally "had been looking for properties in Somerville, but nothing met their needs."

In 2011, Mark Wahlberg , and Rossetti said the city is eager to work with more film producers who want to film in Somerville.

On a somewhat related note, producers of The Heat are looking for extras to film a club scene in Boston on Aug. 14 and 15.
