Photos: Building 'Odysseo'

Crews for Cavalia's "Odysseo" have been working 24 hours a day to build the largest touring tent in the world right here in Somerville.

Cavalia's Odysseo, which opens on Aug. 7, will be staged in a tent that's 125 feet tall and that contains a three-story mountain, an 80-ton technical grid, a deck that floods with 80,000 gallons of water, and enough space to let nearly 65 horses and 50 human artists perform.

A crew of around 80 has been working 24 hours a day in Assembly Square to construct the tent, stands, stables, sound system and everything else that goes into the massive show.

Normand Latourelle, artistic director, said in all the show will spend about $5 million in the local economy to stage the show.

Here are some photos of the work, taken July 30.
