Palindromist Barry Duncan is August's Artist of the Month
Duncan creates reversible art with palindromes.
Somerville resident Barry Duncan has been featured on NPR and is the subject of an upcoming documentary for his skills as a palindromist. He has also been named Somerville's Artist of the Month for August.
A palindrome, for those who forget, is a word or series of words that read the same way forwards and backwards. The word "mom" is a palindrome; so is the phrase "Madam I'm Adam," to steal an example commonly used in articles about Duncan.
It also seems Duncan has been the subject of some trash talk in palindrome circles and a participant in a palindrome showdown among the world's greatest.
Check out the trailer for The Master Palindromist, the documentary about Duncan, and read more about his art at the Somerville Arts Council's website.
