Grants Available for Somerville Arts and Culture Projects

The Somerville Arts Council is holding informational meetings about the grants on Sept. 18, 26 and 30.

The Somerville Arts Council is holding a series of informational meetings about local grants for arts and culture projects, according to the organization's website.

Grants from the Somerville Arts Council, known as LCC (local cultural council) grants, are available in the fields of dance, film and video, literature, theater, music, visual arts, multidisciplinary arts and cultural heritage, according to an announcement from the arts council.

They're available to individuals, schools, community groups, nonprofit organizations and teachers, and "grants may be used for after-school and summer programs, school residencies and field trips, artist fellowships, arts events, exhibitions, public concerts, and more," the announcement says.

If you're interested in learning more, you can attend one of the three informational meetings, beginning Wednesday.

Here's information about the meetings:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Somerville Public Library Central Branch, 79 Highland Ave. 
  • Thursday, Sept. 26, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Somerville Public Library West Branch, 40 College Ave. 
  • Monday, Sept. 30, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cross Street Senior Center, 165 Broadway
