Greg Trooper at the NEFMA Gallery

On Friday, August 3, “Troop” comes to the New England Folk Music Archives (NEMFA) Gallery at The Armory. He’s looking for the wisdom of a New England audience. “I’m trying out my new songs live first before recording them. Audiences in the Boston area are so knowledgeable about songwriting. Getting their impressions of my new stuff will mean a lot.” So he’s bringing it all – new, plus tried and true tunes – to the NEMFA Gallery.

Trooper’s songs have been recorded by the best: Steve Earle, Billy Bragg, Vince Gill, Robert Earl Keen, Maura O’Connell, Tom Russell, Lucy Kaplansky, and Salamander Crossing. Earle and Bragg count themselves among his most ardent fans. "Greg Trooper writes great songs,” says Earle, “including one of my very favorite songs in the world, ‘Little Sister.’ On top of all that, there's his voice - an instrument I have coveted for 15 years."

Hear Greg perform Live at Noon on WUMB (91.9FM) on Friday, 8/3. Listen live at www.WUMB.org
