Wednesday: Somerville Blood Drive

Somerville is holding a special blood drive Wednesday in honor of those affected by the Boston Marathon bombings.

Many were affected by the bombings. Here in Somerville, resident Sean Collier, an MIT police officer who was about to become a Somerville police officer, was allegedly killed by the bombing suspects, and Krystle Campbell, who died in the bombings, had strong family ties in the city.

Wednesday's blood drive, organized by Somerville resident Renee Campo, takes place from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at The Center for Arts at the Armory, according to an email from the American Red Cross.

To make an appointment to donate blood, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

You also might get a $2.50 gift certificate for Turkey Hill’s All Natural Ice Cream and the chance to win two Red Sox tickets, according to the email.
