Doctors Express, an urgent care center, is opening in Malden on Friday, March 21, after a ribbon-cutting ceremony the day before, according to a release from the company.
The center is moving into 219 Centre St. near Malden Center. Its co-owner, Scott Sheridan, grew up in Malden and now lives in neighboring Melrose.
“We are very excited to be a part of the community,” he said in a statement. “We encourage walk-in appointments for illnesses and injuries that can be treated outside of the traditional emergency room setting.
“Patients do not need a referral to be seen; we take most major insurance plans, including Medicare, and for patients without medical insurance, we also offer very affordable self-pay options.”
The center will be open seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
It’ll be the 10th Doctors Express in Massachusetts. It’ll have six treatment rooms, a waiting area, x-ray, onsite lab and nurses station and be staffed by physicians, medical assistants and x-ray technicians.
On Saturday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to noon, the center is having an open house, with free health screenings, tours and a gift for the first 50 patients.
