RESPOND to Receive 'Home Town Hero' Award from FOX25

The FOX25 morning news team will be in Union Square Friday to give the award and celebrate Somerville in other ways.

RESPOND, Inc., the Somerville-based domestic violence prevention agency, will receive the "Home Town Hero" award from FOX25-TV Friday, according to an email from RESPOND.

The morning news team from FOX25 will be in Union Square Friday for a "Zip Trips" visit to Somerville. The TV station has visited more than 170 communities in New England as part of its Zip Trips feature.

Jessica Brayden, executive director of RESPOND, Inc., will be a guest on the morning news show at 7 a.m., according to RESPOND's email.

Other Zip Trip features include visits to Somerville bakeries, cafes and restaurants, and "Zip Trip Jr. Reporter," where a kid from the crowd will help out with reporter duties.

Somerville residents are invited to be part of the live audience during the show, which is shooting from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Learn more here.
