Mystic's Riverfront Park to Re-Open in August

The park has new paths, landscaping and an amphitheater.

A six-acre narrow park along the Mystic River that's been undergoing renovation should open sometime in August, according to Andrea Simpson, director of marketing at Federal Realty Investment Trust.

Federal Realty has funded the renovations of the state-owned park because it borders Assembly Row, and the real estate development is in many ways enhanced by the riverfront area.

The renovation includes new walkways, landscaping and an amphitheater.

A somewhat hidden strip of land two years ago, the park is now more open, with views of the Mystic River.

Simpson did not know specifically when the park would open, but, speaking on July 11, she said it would be sometime "next month."

Although there's still a construction fence around the park, pedestrians can enter it along one of the walkways to see the new amphitheater and landscaping.
