Interstate 93 Southbound Closed Tuesday Night

Interstate 93 southbound will be closed in Somerville and Boston late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, according to an announcement from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.

Cars driving south on the interstate will be detoured off the highway at Route 38/Mystic Avenue in Somerville (Exit 30), according to the announcement.

Cars will follow surface roads through Somerville and Boston and re-enter the highway at the Albany Street on-ramp, in the South End, the announcement says. Traffic heading to Interstate 90 westbound will access that highway south of Kneeland Street.

The highway will be closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday. The closure will allow work crews to paint lane markings, the announcement says.

I-93 northbound will see a similar closure the night of July 16 to July 17.
