Globe Explores Green Line's Impact on Somerville

The city is gearing up for major change due to the Green Line Extension, the Boston Globe says.

The Boston Globe published a lengthy story Thursday about the arrival of the Green Line Extension, which is expected to reach Union Square and Washington Street in 2017, and how it will change Somerville.

The article, "Somerville poised to grow along Green Line," is worth a read.

It includes interviews with the mayor, transportation advocates, a local business owner in Union Square, a real estate agent and a long-time resident.

One interesting quote:

Stephen Bremis, from James J. Bremis Real Estate, Inc., said the Green Line "won’t have an impact until people see the station being built," but after that, "There’s no question if you’re within half to three quarters of a mile of a Green Line stop, your prices will go up 5 to 10 percent."
