Five Things: Ward 1 School Committee Hearing, Whisky Tasting

Also, kindergarten open houses begin this week, and a new life coach in Davis Square.

1) Ward 1 School Committee hearing
There's a public hearing tonight about the School Committee's efforts to fill the vacant seat in Ward 1, which represents East Somerville. After the hearing, the committee will interview four candidates for the position. It starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Capuano Early Childhood Center.

2) Saloon celebrates the Scottish bard Robert Burns’ birthday with whisky
The whisky tasting begins at 6:30 p.m. at Saloon.

3) Kindergarten open houses, school registration
From Somerville Public Schools: "Kindergarten open houses will be held this week (8:30am-1:30pm Jan. 23-25 at all K-8 Schools and the Capuano Center).  Registration at the Somerville Public Schools kicks off on Saturday, January 26 … Check our kindergarten website for details."

4) Life coaching for women comes to Davis Square
Marie Wetmore of Lion's Share Coaching is opening a new location in Davis Square beginning in February, according to an email from Wetmore. She coaches women about work-life balance, stress, fitness goals and other issues. Learn more here.
