Five Things: Starbucks Recall, New River App, CPCU Credit Union Wears Jeans

1) EPA launches new app in Mystic River
The EPA is launching a new app, called RiverView, with an event on the Mystic River this afternoon. RiverView allows users to share and view—on a map and on Facebook—photographs and comments about rivers throughout the United States. Today, paddlers will travel up the entire length of the Mystic River to promote the app and celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Clean Water Act. It's from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Fisherman’s Boat Ramp, 481 Mystic Valley Pkwy, Medford.

2) CPCU Credit Union raises $2200 for Children's Hospital
CPCU Credit Union participated in Miracle Jeans Day in September. The fundraising effort allowed CPCU employees to trade in their business attire for jeans while raising money for Boston Children's Hospital, according to an announcement from the bank. They raised $2200.

3) Starbucks recall
Starbucks Protein Bistro Boxes are being recalled because of possible Salmonella contamination. If you eat those, learn more about the recall here.

4) Poetry open mic
From the event listing: "Turn your ideas into Poems,/Translate your emotions into ideas". The open mic starts at 6:30 p.m. at 6 William St. outside Davis Square.
