Five Things: Somerville Resident Wins Award from MGH

1) Somerville resident wins MGH award
Alexis Smith, of Somerville, was the recipient of the 2012 Student Award for Innovation from the MGH Institute of Health Professions, according to an announcement from the institute. Smith was also recognized for her work as an Albert Schweitzer Fellow, the announcement says. Smith received a master's degree in speech-language pathology, the announcement says. Congratulations.

2) Cradles to Crayons
Somerville Schools Superintendent Tony Pierantozzi and Bill McDonald, also of Somerville Public Schools, volunteered at a Cradles to Crayons event last month, according to an email from Somerville Public Schools. Cradles to Crayons makes sure children in need have essential back-to-school supplies, such as backpacks. Pierantozzi was also the guest speaker at the volunteer event.
