Five Things: Research Your Family and Home

If you've ever been curious about researching your family tree or learning about the history of your house, tonight's a good time to get started. Kevin O'Kelly, a reference librarian, and Kristi Chase, a preservation planner with the Somerville Historic Preservation Committee, will guide people through the process. The talk begins at 7 p.m. at the .

2) Ward 2 ResiStat meeting
The Ward 2 ResiStat neighborhood meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the , 290 Washington St.

3) Teen Empowerment showcase
, which has a youth program in Somerville as well as several in Boston, is celebrating the fact it's entering its 20th year. The organization is hosting a fundraiser tonight in Boston at the Calderwood Pavilion in the South End (527 Tremont St.) It starts at 7:30 p.m. More here.

4) CPCU Credit Union collected over 300 books
To participate in Children's Book Month, which was in April, the collected 320 books, according to an announcement from the credit union. The books will benefit local non-profits and childcare facilities, the announcement says.
