Five Things: Mayor's Business Town Meeting, 'Bag It' Screening

Also, Somerville is a generous place when it comes to the Walk for Hunger, and an idea for spring vacation.

Editor's note: We previously got the times of tonight's Mayor's Business Town Meeting backwards. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) and there's a reception at 7 p.m.

The Mystic River Watershed Association, , , state Rep. Denise Provost and others are presenting an award-winning documentary tonight called "Bag It," about the effects of plastic bags in the environment. The screening is at 5 p.m. at . 2) Mayor's Business Town Meeting
The is hosting a "fast-paced" one-hour question and answer session with Somerville Mayor Joseph Curtatone tonight. The Business Town Meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at  (doors open at 5 p.m.) and there will be a post-event reception at  at 7 p.m. This is a ticketed event with limited seating.

3) Somerville named 5th most generous city in Massachusetts
Project Bread, which runs the annual Walk for Hunger, said Somerville was the 5th most generous city in Massachusetts in the 2011 walk, according to an email from the hunger-fighting organization. Somerville had 459 walkers who collectively raised $74,000, the email said. In order, beginning with most generous, Boston, Newton, Cambridge and Brookline were all ranked higher than Somerville. Somerville was more generous than Arlington, Wellesley, Belmont, Watertown and Quincy. The 2012 Walk for Hunger takes place on May 6, and you can register or donate at www.projectbread.org/walk.

4) April vacation at the MFA
If you're looking for something to do with the kids this spring vacation, check out the MFA. April 17 through April 20, the museum is offering free admission to all children 17 and under. It's also featuring family friendly tours, art-making activities and theatrical performances.
