Five Things: Local Animals Need Adoption, Acrobatic Cats

Also, a concert at the Hatch Shell, and collecting school supplies.

1) Helping Adopt Animals
On Tuesday, yours truly, from Somerville Patch, joined other Patch editors from Boston and Brookline to volunteer at The Animal Rescue League of Boston. After touring the facility and working hard to socialize kittens, we took off into the South End with three dogs up for adoption and handfuls of flyers in an effort to promote the Animal Rescue League's challenge to save 1,200 animals in 12 weeks this summer. If they do, they could get a grant from the ASPCA. There are tons of animals up for adoption, including lots of shamelessly cute kittens. If you're interested, call (617) 426-9170.

2)
Acro-Cats Cat Circus
Acrobatic cats—who push carts, ride skateboards, ring bells, walk on tight ropes, jump through hoops and more—are performing at The Center for Arts at the Armory tonight at 7 p.m.

3) A Family Guide to the Orchestra
Students from the Dudamel Orchestra of the Conservatory Lab Charter School perform Brahms at the Hatch Shell in Boston. The concert is at 7 p.m.

4) Staples for Students National School Supply Drive
Staples is collecting school supplies, which will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Middlesex County to help disadvantaged youth, according to an email from the supply drive. To donate school supplies, drop them off at Staples at 165 Middlesex Ave. in Assembly Square.

5) Weather
A chance of showers with a high around 84.
