Five Things: Literacy and L.L. Bean

1) Supporting literacy: volunteer training
Learn about how you can support literacy in Somerville by volunteering in Somerville schools. There's a free training session tonight for new and returning volunteers. It's at 6 p.m. at the Argenziano School.

2) L.L. Bean Bootmobile
The L.L. Bean Bootmobile is at Tufts University today. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Maine outdoor clothing company, the Bootmobile is touring Northeastern colleges. Tufts students will get the opportunity to win prizes and see the latest gear from L.L. Bean. It's on campus at 10 a.m. 

3) "Heat the Night" menu coming to Olde Magoun's Saloon
Olde Magoun's Saloon is brining the heat this December, according to an announcement from the restaurant. Every Wednesday they'll be serving a special spicy-food menu with items like Jamaican Me Crazy Goat Stew (yes, that name Jamaicas me crazy, too), Ring of Fire Shrimp and Grits, and Voodoo Jambalaya. The menu starts Dec. 5, according to the announcement.

4) Collecting food
The CPCU Credit Union hosted a Harvest Food Drive in early November to benefit the Somerville Homeless Coalition, according to an announcement from the bank. In all, it collected 20 bags and two large bins of food, the announcement says.
