2) Somerville gets $14,000 in drug forfeiture funds for summer program
Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone's office has donated $100,000 in drug forfeiture funds to community programs, according to an announcement from Leone's office, and $14,000 is coming to Somerville. According to the announcement: "This $14,000 donation allows for four social workers to be retained by the school system for the summer to work with high risk youth and their families in an effort to improve their academic performance and rectify familial issues that interfere with the students’ abilities to succeed academically."
