Five Things: El Sistema Kickoff Concert, Door2Door Comedy Night

1) El Sistema kickoff concert
El Sistema, which enriches the lives of children through music and which started in Somerville at the beginning of this school year, is holding a kickoff concert tonight. It's at 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and there's a reception afterward. The Ryan Taylor Band will be the special guest. It's at the East Somerville Community School at 8 Bonair St.

2) Door2Door Comedy Night
Boston comedians Paul D’Angelo, Graig Murphy and Artie Januario will perform at an event hosted by radio host Hank Morse of 105.7 FM, WROR. The comedy night benefits Somerville-based Door2Door, which provides transportation to seniors and people with disabilities. It's at 6:30 p.m. at 54 Montvale Ave., Stoneham.

3) Somerville residents running Samaritans 5K
The Samaritans 5K takes place Sept. 29 along the Charles River, and some Somerville residents will be running. Lorin Polidora is one of them, and she'll be running in memory of her brother, Joey. Danielle Bolduc is another Somerville runner. She'll be running in memory of her father, Rob, who lost his life to suicide in 1995. Samaritans helps prevent suicide and supports those suffering from grief related to suicide. Among other things, it runs a 24/7 helpline. If you want to donate to the run, visit here.

4) Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival
The Beantown Jazz Festival kicks off tonight and takes place through the weekend. More here.

5) Weather and Red Sox
The Red Sox are off tonight. Today will be mostly sunny with highs around 69.
