Five Things: Chili Fest at Tufts, 50 Shades of Whiskey

Also, a walking and bicycle conference in Boston and a concert at Tufts.

1) Chili Fest at Tufts
Tufts University is hosting its annual "Station House Chili Fest" today. It's an informal event that celebrates the duties of local police officers and firefighters. Tufts students will join firefighters and police officers to thank them for the work they do in the community. Chili Fest takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Charmichael Dining Hall.

2) 50 Shades of Whiskey at Saloon (for ladies only)
From the event listing: "Join Saloon’s Beverage Director, Manny Gonzales, who will host 50 Shades of Whiskey, an evening of learning and tasting whiskey just for women who are interested in becoming more comfortable with the various brown liquors that tease them from behind the bar." It's at 6:30 p.m. at Saloon.

3) Moving Together 2012
The annual Moving Together Conference, hosted by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, is a statewide walking and bicycle conference. It aims to promote walking, biking and transit. It's today from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boston Sheraton Hotel, 39 Dalton St., Boston. More here.

4) Tufts Composers: Test Drive
From the event listing: "Guest composer Elliott Schwartz presents his four-hand piano work 'Test Drive' on a program with keyboard and chamber works by Tufts Composers, including Michael Laurello’s 'Prototypes' for piano and electronic controllers." It's at 8 p.m. at the Granoff Music Center at Tufts University.
