Detectives Make Cocaine Bust in Winter Hill, Says Report

Members of the Somerville Police Department Drug Control Unit caught a Dorchester man Friday with 11 bags of cocaine, according to allegations outlined in a police report.

The report says detectives set up a sting operation as part of an ongoing investigation into a residence in Winter Hill that was allegedly serving as a base for a cocaine distribution operation. 

Although the report does not explicitly name the address, the man who was caught, 32-year-old Alex Flores-Plaza, was arrested at 11 Evergreen Ave. as part of the sting operation, the report says.

According to the report, detectives worked with a cooperating witness to contact a "drug kingpin" and place an order for cocaine to be delivered to the Winter Hill residence.

At about 3:30 p.m. on Friday, a surveillance team observed Flores-Plaza drive to the area and walk to the target residence, the report says.

When Flores-Plaza tried to get into the apartment, two detectives met him in the entryway.

The report says Flores-Plaza tried to flee, discarding 11 bags of white substance, believed to be cocaine, in the hallway of the building. He was arrested after a brief struggle, according to the report.

This area of Evergreen Avenue is not new to alleged drug deals.

In the same area, in December of 2012, one man was shot and another stabbed after a marijuana deal gone bad.
