Cross Street Bridge is Now Open

Five things to know and do in Somerville on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014.

1) Cross Street Bridge is Now Open
The Cross Street Bridge, which was closed for 10 months to undergo a $4.84 million rehabilitation, officially reopened Tuesday. MassDOT posted a photo of the opening ceremony on Twitter.

2) Green Line Extension Meetings
A series of meetings about noise and retaining walls along the Green Line Extension continues with a meeting, tonight, about the Lowell Street and Ball Square stations. The meeting is at 6 p.m. at The Center for Arts at the Armory.

3) Somerville Neighborhood News Party
Somerville Neighborhood News is holding party on Jan. 28. There will be food, and you'll get to screen the latest episode of the Somerville news show.

4) Somerville resident Brian Mercury to Participate in Cookie Creations
Mercury, executive pastry chef at Harvest, will compete against other Boston-area chefs to create a "unique dessert or appetizer using Girl Scout cookies as an ingredient." The competition is on February 6 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge.

5) Weather
Snow will continue until 1 p.m. or 2 p.m., and it will be windy and cold, with a high of around 18.
