11,000 Gallons of Asphalt Spills Into Mystic River

The spill happened Thursday.

Roughly 11,000 gallons of liquid asphalt spilled into the Mystic River on Thursday from a hose failure at the ExxonMobil terminal in Everett, according to the Mystic River Watershed Association.

The spill occurred at about 3:30 p.m., when the 439-foot Palanca Singapore tanker ship was offloading, according to the organization.

The Mystic River Watershed Association and the U.S. Coast Guard are monitoring clean-up efforts.
