STONEHAM THEATRE UPS THE CONCERT ANTE

Over the past thirteen seasons, Stoneham Theatre has become known for producing great Mainstage productions, developing a superb young company education program, and for bringing a variety of concerts to its stage.  Stoneham Theatre’s concerts have been mainly “tributes” to great performers of the past and present…until now.

Stoneham Theatre is excited to “up the ante” and present contemporary acts for Season 14.  “It’s exciting and a little scary at the same time,” Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes shared.  “As a non-profit, it’s always somewhat daunting to take a risk, but we couldn’t be happier or more excited with this season’s concert line-up.”

Stoneham Theatre’s 2013-2014 concert season includes:  the smoking original band from the Tony Award-winning, Grammy-nominated Broadway musical, Movin’ Out; Teatro, an ll Divo type, Broadway hit-singing group making its American debut; The Jay Geils Jazz and Blues Revue on New Year’s Eve; the multi-award-winning Florence La Rue and the 5th Dimension; and comedienne extraordinaire Loretta Laroche.  “There is something for every musical taste from pop to jazz to musical theatre,” Symes noted.

Audiences can enjoy the added bonus of seeing these acts up-close and personal as Stoneham Theatre boasts an intimate setting of 350 seats.  “Teatro has performed all over Europe, but only in arenas,” Symes said.  “Not only will this be their United States debut, but it will be the groups’ first time performing in a more personal venue.”

Stoneham Theatre’s 2013-2014 concert tickets go on sale on Monday, July 1, 2013.  To purchase tickets, or for more information, call the Stoneham Theatre Box Office at (781) 279-2200, or visit www.stonehamtheatre.org.
