Somerville Solar Challenge offers 20% discount

HEET (an award-winning nonprofit) and Next Step Living (one of the largest green contractors in the state) have partnered to offer a great discount on solar electric panels to Somerville residents.  The program is supported by Somerville Climate Action.

The Solar Challenge offers a 20% base-price discount to up to 100 homeowners (below the state average cost for solar per watt installed as of July 2013). On the average solar system of 4kW, this discount will save $4,000.  The Challenge runs from now until Oct. 1st.

100 solar installations, over the lifetime of the panels, would save enough carbon emissions to be equivalent to taking 674 passenger cars off the road for a year.

The Challenge will also donate $300 for each solar installation to a participating Somerville nonprofit.  The Solar Challenge expects to give away $30,000 in donations to nonprofits.
