Couples Who Work Out Together Get Results Together

Workout with your loved one this Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentines Day!! While many people consider this a day to indulge on chocolate and champagne, we have an idea that will not only make you feel really great, but will also build a stronger relationship between you and your loved one.

Workout Together!

Couples who work out together always seem to get better results. Social support is extremely important and a supportive environment at home can be the difference between a successful and unsuccessful fitness regimen. We have a number of couples at our gym and they all motivate each other in different ways.

For some couples, this motivation stems from competition. For instance, they might each set individual goals, and then compete to see who can accomplish their goal the fastest. This way, when one person sees the other going to the gym, they won’t want to be out-done and will likely get up and go as well, even if they weren’t feeling like it that day. Relationships tend to thrive on healthy competition and when the competition revolves around fitness, you get the benefits of both better health and a stronger bond in your relationship.

Other couples bond over positive reinforcement and accountability. When one person in the relationship is having a bad day and goes to reach for the chocolate bar, the other can be there to remind them that this quick fix will only make them feel better temporarily, and refocus them on the goal they set together. When one person in the relationship does a new exercise for the first time, the other person can be there to cheer them on and revel in their accomplishment together. Going through these experiences together makes getting in shape more fun and brings health to the forefront of the relationship.

On this Valentine’s Day, try skipping the chocolates, and think about getting your significant other the relationship-building, health-improving gift of fitness!

Happy V-day!
