Ward 3 Candidates Forum Planned, Cavalia Extends Run

Five things to know and do in and around Somerville on Sept. 5, 2013.

1) Ward 3 Candidates Forum
Something to put on your calendar: Union Square Main Streets is hosting a forum for candidates seeking the Ward 3 seat on the Somerville Board of Aldermen. The forum will take place on Sept. 12 at 6:45 p.m. at Somerville Community Access TV, 90 Union Square.

2) Cavalia Extends Run
Cavalia's Odysseo, the big-tent equestrian show in Assembly Square, has extended its run again due to high ticket sales. It's now running through Sept. 22.

3) Boston Breakers Get New Coach
The Boston Breakers recently named Tom Durkin as the new head coach of the team. According to an announcement from the team, Durkin "served as a coach for the  FC Celtic Bolts of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and previously worked as Academy Director for IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., the home of U.S. Soccer’s U-16 and U-17 men’s national teams residency programs." Welcome to Somerville.

4) Farmers Market at Kendall Square
Check out the farmers market at 11 a.m. at 500 Kendall St., Cambridge.

5) Weather
A chance of showers in the morning, then becoming sunnier in the afternoon, with a high around 71.
