Re-Opening the Mystic River's Baxter State Park

Also, AlliancExchange turns 10 and Oktoberfest. Five things to know and do in and around Somerville on Sept. 18, 2013.

1) Gov. Patrick to Open Riverside Park in Somerville Wednesday
If you didn't see, Gov. Deval Partick is expected to be in town today to celebrate the reopening of Baxter State Park along the Mystic River in Assembly Square. The celebration is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

2) AlliancExchange Turns Ten
AllianExchange, a Somerville nonprofit that's dedicated to saving the rain forests through educating children in Peru and Ecuador, turns 10 this year. Tonight, the nonprofit kicks off a year worth of celebrations with "A Taste of Peru," which takes place at Machu Picchu in Union Square. Learn more here.

3) Oktoberfest at Olde Magoun's Saloon
The Magoun Square tavern celebrates Oktoberfest this month and next month, and it will feature beers from a different German brewery each week. This week, they're serving suds from Wurzburger.
