MBTA Gets New Twitter Handle

Five things to know and do in and around Somerville on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.

1) New MBTA Twitter Handle
T riders, the MBTA will be getting a new Twitter handle. According to an announcement from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the T's official Twitter handle will change from @mbtaGM to @MBTA. The announcement says followers don't have to do anything because "the name will switch over in a seamless transition." The MBTA often posts news, alerts, announcements and service updates on Twitter.

2) Somerville Adult Evening School Registration
Registration takes place tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Somerville High School main office, 81 Highland Ave. You can also contact Sophia Carafotes, the principal, at (617) 628-2594, or you can register online at somerville.k12.ma.us/eveningschool.

3) Concierto Barocco
Head to the Multicultural Arts Center, at 41 2nd St. in East Cambridge, at 7:30 p.m., to hear the Concierto Barocco Ensemble play Spanish-American music from the 16th to 18th centuries.

4) First and Last Work Poetry Series
Head to The Center for Arts at the Armory for some poetry. It begins at 7 p.m.

5) Weather
Sunny with a high around 60.
