Halloween Party at Lincoln Tech, Somerville's Worst Commutes

Also, a look at Millennials and the job market, and an arrest was made in the "Puppy Doe" case. Five things to know and do around Somerville on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013.

1) Halloween at Lincoln Tech
Lincoln Tech, at 5 Middlesex Ave., is hosting a Halloween party today. There will be a kid's costume competition, a donut-on-a-string competition and trick-or-treating. It's for the whole family, and you can stop by from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

2) Map: What Part of Town Has the Worst Commutes?
Parts of Somerville seem to have some of the worst commute times in Greater Boston, according to a map we recently posted. We're working on a story about commutes, so let us know how long yours is. Of course, a half an hour on the T, where you can read or get work done, is different than a half hour in your car, where you can exercise your middle finger while listening to meditation tapes.

3) It's Not Easy Being Green ... I Mean a Millennial
Millennials, those born after 1982, are still having a tough time in the job market, according to a jobs post on Somerville Patch. Some blame the economy, some seem to blame the Millennials themselves. If you're into the generation wars (The Greatest Generation is from Mars, the Baby Boomers are from Venus, or something), check it out. Meanwhile, Gen Xers, apparently, are officially old. See reference to "[cassette] tapes" above.

4) Police Charge Person in 'Puppy Doe' Dog Torture Case
Braintree Patch reported Monday that police had made an arrest in the torture case of "Puppy Doe."

5) Weather
Cloudy with a chance of showers and highs around 55.
