Free Flu Shots, Day of the Dead Cooking Class

Five things to know and do in and around Somerville on Thursday, Oct. 24.

1) Free Flu Shot
Today's free flu-shot clinic is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Tufts Administration Building, 167 Holland St. The city is also offering free flu clinics every Thursday through December, or until the vaccine supply runs out, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall Annex, 50 Evergreen Ave.

2) Day of the Dead Cooking Class
Estela Calzada, who formerly cooked at Tú y Yo, will teach you how to make some authentic Day of the Dead Mexican food, including several types of tamales. Learn more here.

3) Spooktacular Som|Dog Halloween Party
Celebrate Halloween with doggies, doggie costumes, prizes and fun. It's at 6:30 p.m. at Crate Escape, 200 Terminal Street, Charlestown.

4) Matignon High School Open House
The open house is at 6:15 p.m. at One Matignon Road, Cambridge.

5) Today in History
Today in 1945, the United Nations charter went into effect.
