1) City Accepting Community Preservation Committee Applications Somerville voters adopted the Community Preservation Act during the previous election. The CPA, as it's known, funds housing, historic preservation and open space projects in the city, and those funds, about $1.5 million a year, are controlled by a community preservation committee. The committee has nine members, four of whom are residents. If you want to be on the commission, the city is accepting applications. You can apply here.
2) A Taste of El Salvador Juan Carlos Menjivar will teach you how to make pupusas, revueltas, queso co loroco and other Salvadoran food. It's part of the Nibble series of cooking classes. The class starts at 6:30 p.m. at Kitchen, Inc., 201 Somerville Ave. See if tickets are still available here.
