 uthor of many articles on literary and historical aspects of biblical te
 xts\, co-editorof &ldquo\;The Jewish Study Bible&rdquo\; (Oxford Univers
 ity Press\; 2004)\, and winner of a 2004 National Jewish Book Award. He 
 has been a Me&rsquo\;ah instructor since the the program&rsquo\;s incept

 w Literature and Philosophy inthe Department of Near Eastern Languages a
 nd Civilizations of Harvard University. Prof. Cohen began his career at 
 the Jewish Theological Seminarywhere he was ordained and for many years 
 was the Dean of the Graduate School and Shenkman Professor of Jewish His
 tory. He received his Ph.D. in Ancient History\, with distinction\, from
  Columbia University in 1975.&nbsp\; Professor Cohen has written or edit
 ed ten books and over sixty articles. He is perhaps best known for From 
 the Maccabees to the Mishnah (1987\; second edition 2006)\, which is wid
 ely used as a textbook in colleges and adult education\, including the M
 e&rsquo\;ah program. \n&ldquo\;I loved learning from Professor Cohen.&nb
