Learn to Row on the Mystic River
The Gentle Giant Rowing Club is celebrating its 10th anniversary on the Mystic River and is again offering Co-ed Learn to Row classes this summer for Adults ages 18 and up. Learn the skills and teamwork that it takes to glide along the river in a "4" or an "8" in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Classes will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at either 5:30-7:00AM or 6:00-7:30PM. The first session begins 5/29/12 and runs until 6/22/12. Two more sessions follow from 6/25-7/27 and 7/30-8/31. The price for each session is $130 and takes place at the Blessing of the Bay Boathouse, 32 Shore Drive, Somerville. More About Gentle Giant Rowing Club
This local nonprofit organization partners with the City of Somerville to offer rowing as an activity for all regardless of age or income. The Blessing of the Bay Boathouse on the shore of the Mystic River provides facilities for classes. The river itself is where the group offers rowing instruction for novices and trains its competitive crews. They take their name from The Gentle Giant Moving Company, which generously sponsors the group. Gentle Giant Rowing also founded the Somerville High School Rowing Team which competes each Spring.
