Could This Happen? Science Fiction Becomes Science Fact: A Free Event in Davis Square
Rosebud Diner, 381 Summer St, Somerville, MA | Get Directions »
FREE
This event, hosted and inspired by Somerville resident Joelle Renstrom’s work on her blog, www.couldthishappen.com, explores technologies in science fiction that have or are in the process of coming to fruition in real life.
Join scientists, sci-fi enthusiasts, and the technologically curious for conversations and demonstrations by local scientists working on artificial intelligence, human-robot interactions, neural prosthetics and enhancements, robot rights, 3-D printing, and brain-machine interfaces.
The event is informal and interactive, and attendees are encouraged to ask questions about the technologies on display, as well as to network, socialize, and be merry in the name of all things science and science fiction.
This event is free and open to the public.

More About Rosebud Diner
The Rosebud, housed within an old railway car circa 1941 (Worcester Lunch Car #773), has officially been placed on the National Register of Historic Places and operates as a full-service diner seven days a week. Unlike many diners, typically known for their burger-and-fries menus, Rosebud offers a variety of comfort food like your mother might make, ranging from hash browns to lasagna. The restaurant also features daily off-menu specials.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Rosebud also features a full bar. The interior is cozy with a retro feel, booths lining the windows and a long counter with stools where customers can sit and enjoy their meals. Reasonable pricing and friendly staff add to the allure of this quirky local diner.
