The statewide Against the Tide is a family-friendly fundraising event to benefit Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC). MBCC works to reduce toxic chemicals in the environment, which research shows are linked to the dramatic rise in the incidence of breast cancer. Against the Tide will take place at DCR’s Hopkinton State Park on Saturday June 22. It consists of several different activities: a competitive and recreational 1-mile swim, 2-mile kayak, 3-mile walk, 5K run, and 10K run.

More About Hopkinton State Park
Hopkinton Reservoir holds court amid the more than 1,400 acres of this easily accessible state park. The grounds are open year-round to various recreational activities, notably featuring ten miles of marked trails that can be shared by hikers, joggers, cyclists and even horseback riders. If there's enough snow (four inches), then bring along the snowmobile. Picnic areas, beaches and seasonal boat rentals, offered by Outdoor Recreation of Hopkinton (508-435-3965), are a few more options when visiting these sprawling grounds just minutes from the center of town.
