SOMERVILLE NATIVE RETURNS TO STONEHAM STAGE!

Somerville native, Bob Ferreira, is returning to Stoneham Theatre’s stage this January 5th and 6th with one of the most enduring singing groups of all time, The Four Freshmen.  Ferreira and the rest of the “Freshmen” appeared at Stoneham Theatre last year to sold-out crowds.

The Four Freshmen have been delighting audiences with their crooning harmonies for 65 years.  Co-founded by Bob Flanigan in the late 1940s, the group has featured numerous vocalists over six decades.  The current group, featuring Brian Eichenberger, Curtis Calderon, Vince Johnson, and Bob Ferreira, has been together longer than any other class of Freshmen.

Ferreira has been with The Four Freshmen for twenty years as the bass voice and percussionist.  “I joined the Freshmen in 1992 as two members were retiring.  I was very excited to be a part of such a musically inspirational group.”

Their history is undoubtedly why the Four Freshmen are the longest running vocal group in show business.  “The best analogy I’ve been able to come up with is this:  it’s like a sports team that started in 1948,” Ferreira explained.  “The players have changed but it’s an organization that has been continually working.”

Working is exactly what these Freshmen  have been doing.  When they are not headlining sold-out concerts all over the world, the Freshmen spend time in the recording studio.  Their latest offering is “Love Songs.”  Featuring classics such as “Stardust,” “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square,” and “On the Street Where You Live,” “Love Songs” has stayed true to the “freshmen brand” of vocal harmony, iconic songwriters, and beautiful arrangements.

“These are all songs the Freshmen never recorded,” Ferreira said, “but people who know the sound will recognize most of them as if coming from that golden era.  That’s what we wanted to capture.”

Along with songs from their new album, the Freshmen will perform many of their hits such as “It’s a Blue World,” “Day By Day,” and “Graduation Day” during their Stoneham Theatre performances.  With over 100 records to their name, 70 top selling singles, and 6 Grammy Nominations, Stoneham Theatre audiences will witness first-hand why The Four Freshmen remain the top of their class.

Ferreira and the rest of the Freshmen will be at Stoneham Theatre for two performances only, January 5th at 8pm and January 6th at 2pm.  Tickets are $50.  $55 for VIP seating.  For more information, call the Stoneham Theatre Box Office at (781) 279-2200 or visit www.stonehamtheatre.org.
