Somerville Museum to host lecture of Somervilles' CO "E"

On Monday Nov. 12th, Veterans Day, at 2:00 P.M. Historic Somerville will hold an event at the Somerville Museum with Prof. Daniel Breen. The subject of his talk will be "The Somerville Company" in the Massachusetts 39th Regiment. It was formed at Camp Prescott at Union Sq. Though not technicaly a part of Camp Cameron it did have Camp Cameron connections. When it began recruiting it was originaly intended for the 38th regiment and would have been one of the three companies of that regiment to go to Camp Cameron. Just before it was to go into the state camp Massachusetts decided to switch two campanies between the 38th & 39th. Most likely this was to speed up getting one of them to the front. Also, while it was being recruited it received rations from Camp Cameron.

For a more complete history of this company attended Prof. Breen's talk. The event is free to members and $8.00 for non-members. Please check out the link below.
