Why go? People from Poets' Theatre at the Arts at the Armory, The Liberation Poetry Collective and Trilingual Press will present the book "Liberation Poetry: An Anthology." Contributors will then read selections, and Cambridge experimental jazz and pop singer Lo Galluccio will perform.

Ron Brunelle Exhibition

Why go? Recent abstract paintings by the Somerville artist, who received a Somerville Arts Council 2011 Visual Arts Fellowship Grant in painting, will be on display through most of the month.

Why go? The exhibit marks the opening of Change is Good Gallery. Redbones will serve appetizers, and there will be live music by Quilisma. There will be a viewing Saturday, Jan. 14, too, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go? Buy fresh bread, locally produced honey, cheese, fruits and vegetables, wine and other food. Musicians, coffee, baked goods and workshops on food preparation add to the experience.

Adventures Close to Home

Where: Washington Street Art Center, 321 Washington St, Somerville
Why go? Feminist artists from the area will present and auction off their artwork throughout January to raise money to cover the cost of attending Boston Lady Fest, a three-day festival in Cambridge.
