What Business Would You Like to See Open in Somerville in 2013?

2012 saw some cool business openings in Somerville. What would you like to see open in 2013?

If you could wave your magic wand sometime in 2013 and create a business that would serve the Somerville community, what would it be?

In 2012, the city saw a bunch of openings, including, but by no means limited to, Painted Burro, a new Mexican restaurant, Davis Square Theatre, a revamped performances space, and RE/MAX Heritage Green, a real estate office that specializes in energy efficient homes.

A number of restaurants and cafes opened, including Fortissimo, a coffee shop in Union Square. Union Square also saw the opening of a non-coffee shop, Counter Culture Coffee, a wholesaler that offers classes and "cuppings" to the public.

Somerville is always a busy place for restaurant openings, and 2013 is gearing up to be an exciting year, with Bronwyn and a new venture by Oleana's owner expected to start serving meals in the upcoming year.

But Man cannot live on bread and tapas made from locally sourced ingredients alone (actually, he probably can). What other business would you like to see come to Somerville in 2013? A bookstore? A hardware store? A Trader Joe's?

Let us know in the comments section below.

Definetly an Olive Garden. So many in Somerville really want this.

I would love another breakfast place in Magoun Square. Right now, we have Modelo's, but I think another one would help.

Cool shops, art galleries, fun pubs, small business & less chains. Would like to see the empty store fronts on Broadway in Winterhill filled with new, hip & exciting places that would add to the neighborhood.

How about putting something in the empty Star Market on Broadway, like a Trader Joes or something.

That space has been vacant too long! A Trader Joe's would be great, or divide the space into smaller restaurant and retail venues.

A holistic veterinarian. With such an informed and progressive community (with lots of pets!), it would be nice to have a vet who offers a more holistic approach to nutrition and health.

In Union Square to add to the plethora of new eating establishments a (good) red sauce Italian restaurant; the kind of place you can stroll to have pasta (or pizza) bottle Chianti and go home happy.

A couple of other squares wouldn't hurt either. We had quite a few years ago.

Trader Joe's in either one of the former supermarkets (Winter Hill Star, Alewife Foodmaster) or in the Social Security Building in Davis Square (a huge vacant space).
