WEEK AHEAD: Craft Beer and Chocolate
Also, some events at the high school, a Green Line extension meeting, a book signing and more.
Craft beer and chocolate pairing
Put this in your calendar for Saturday. Taza Chocolate is hosting a chocolate and craft-beer-paring event. If you ever wanted to know what beer goes with a Taza Mexicano Salted Almond Chocolate, you'll find out (hint: it's a Peak Organic oak-aged mocha stout.) Better yet, your $3 donation will benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank. The tasting starts at 2 p.m.
Texting and driving = No!
AT&T and a bunch of Somerville officials will be at the high school Monday morning for a presentation about the dangers of texting and driving. The presentation starts at 9 a.m.
Planning Green Line stations
Discuss designs for the Washington Street and Union Square stations on the Green Line extension. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn, 30 Washington St.
High school open house
Parents of future or current students can visit Somerville High School Tuesday and Wednesday. The open houses are from 8:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday and from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Boston Inspirational Women
Join photographer Bill Brett for a book signing of his new book, Boston Inspirational Women. Proceeds from book sales will go to CASPAR, Inc., which runs a treatment program for mothers with substance abuse issues. The book signing is Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Foundry on Elm.
Aldermen meeting
The Board of Aldermen meet Thursday at 7 p.m. at Somerville City Hall. Let's hope Mayor Joseph Curtatone isn't there wearing a football jersey.
