The Union Square neighborhood is getting a new gym.
Achieve Fitness, at 42 Merriam St., between Union Square and Target, will hold its grand opening on Jan. 17 with raffles, give-aways and an introduction to the gym's owners and fitness philosophy, according to an announcement from the gym.
The owners, Lauren Perreault and Jason Pak, will give a short talk called, "Why people fail at fat loss," and people who sign up at the grand opening will get special membership pricing, the announcement says.
Based on the announcement and they gym's website, Achieve Fitness seems to place an emphasis on weekly training sessions, individual workout sessions and classes.
The grand opening event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Hi Jessica,
We offer three types of classes: MetCon, Strength Training, and Kettlebell. MetCon stands for metabolic conditioning and it is a circuit-style class where we do high intensity exercises followed by rest periods in order to bring your heart rate up and down for the best type of cardiovascular workout! Strength Training focuses on working toward building strength which equates to lean muscles and has a great fat burning effect. Kettlebell classes combine strength and conditioning and are a wonderful tool which we have spent years learning and mastering in order to be able to properly teach kettlebell techniques.
Hope that helps! I you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at info@achievefitnessboston.com!
Best,
Lauren
