Sept. 6 Primary: Guide to Candidates Running in Somerville

Massachusetts holds its primary election Sept. 6. Here's a short guide to candidates running for office in Somerville.

Massachusetts holds its state primary on Sept. 6.

In Somerville, there are only a few contested races in the primary. Among them, Harry Kortikere seeks to unseat Denise Provost as state representative for the 27th Middlesex district.

The race with the most candidates is that for register of deeds in Middlesex County's southern district.

Newton Television, NewTV, hosted a great debate with five of the six register of deeds candidates. You can watch it here.

Below are the names of candidates running for office this fall. Click on the names to read brief biographies of the candidates, supplied by the candidates themselves.

All the candidates are Democrats unless otherwise noted.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Don't know where to vote? Find out here.
