Love Letters :: Messages Received
An email about the exhibit says, "Marissa Falco ... uses fabric and thread to craft three-dimensional, functional objects that are both highly relatable and intimately personal." The opening reception is Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Washington Street Art Center. The exhibit runs through March 30.
"How to Win the Internet" Film Premiere Event
The listing asks, "What do pirates, sock puppets and zombies have in common? They're all part of off-the-wall feature-length sketch comedy film How to Win the Internet (And Other Questionable Endeavors)." This film screens at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at Somerville Theatre.
Somerville Little League Tryout and Player Evaluations
Tryouts for Somerville Little League's minor and major leagues are Saturday from 11 a.m. at 2 p.m. at the Somerville High School gym, 81 Highland Ave.
Maple Syrup Project at Library
Children ages 5 to 9, and their families, will enjoy learning about the history of maple syrup production. Even more, they might enjoy some maple syrup tasting. It's part of Groundwork Somerville's Maple Syrup Project. This event takes place Saturday at 2 p.m. at the central branch of the Somerville Public Library.
BLACK INK at Nave Gallery
This exhibit features the works of 19 regional artists and is, according to a announcement, "about the simplest, most basic form of reproduction: black marks on paper." It runs through March 8, when there will be a closing reception. You can see it at the Nave Gallery Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
City-Wide Swim Meet
According to an email from Somerville's school district, "Somerville Public Schools students in grades 1-8 will go head to head in a school swimming competition on Saturday afternoon." It's from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kennedy School.
High School Quiz Show on WGBH
Don't miss Somerville High School as it competes against Lincoln-Sudbury on WGBH's High School Quiz Show. The show airs Sunday at 6:30pm on Channel 2.
Afropop and Blues
Habib Koité, a leading Afropop artist from Mali, and Eric Bibb, an American blues artist, perform together for some cross-cultural guitar playing. It's at Somerville Theatre Sunday at 7 p.m.
