Monster Mashed-Up and Oktoberfest
Somerville Avenue will host Monster Mashed-Up and Oktoberfest on Sunday. It will feature chainswaw artists carving huge pumpkins, live music, ghost tours, a costume parade for kids, a rock-climbing wall and some good pub and restaurant hopping (for those of age). It starts at 12 p.m. and takes place along all of Somerville Avenue from Union Square to Beacon Street.
Friends of the Public Library book sale
The fall book sale supports cultural and educational programs at the library, such as children's programs and museum passes. The book sale is Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Somerville Library Central Branch. This year there's a good collection of history, biography, literature and fiction, along with DVDs, CDs and more. Check here for times.
SLAM Halloween Artist Market
Shop for Halloween-themed crafts, jewelry, photography, textiles, painting and wearable art. It's Saturday starting at 12 p.m. at The Burren. There will also be live bluegrass music and a $5 lunch special.
