Drink Craft Beer Summerfest: A Celebration of Farmhouse Ale
Craft beer lovers will be able to sample over 70 farmhouse ales and saisons at the Craft Beer Summerfest, which hits The Center for Arts at the Armory on Friday and Saturday. Saisons and farmhouse ales, according to BeerAdvocate.com, are sturdy beers "traditionally brewed in the winter to be consumed throughout the summer months … this is a very complex style; many are very fruity in the aroma and flavor." The beer festival will feature samples from 25 New England brewers, and the price of admission gets you unlimited 2-ounce samples (be careful). There will also be food from Taza Chocolate and B. Good. There's one session Friday night and two sessions Saturday.
Free outdoor yoga
Union Square yoga teachers Jill O'Toole and Monica Delgado Chaffee are offering a free yoga class for people of all abilities Saturday afternoon. The two practice at Be. in Union Yoga, the studio above Bloc 11. The free yoga class starts at 1 p.m. at Nunziato Park, and it's part of a four-week series of free classes put on by the yoga studio.
Batman Trivia Night
Think you know Batman? Test your knowledge against other fans at Comicazi. They'll be asking questions about the Dark Knight's presence in comics, movies, cartoons and more. It starts at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Bastille Day at Precinct
In honor of Bastille Day, which is Saturday, Shaun Wolf Wortis, Vudu Krewe and a collection of other musicians will pay homage to the French holiday with a set of Serge Gainsbourg music and some New Orleans rhythm and blues. It starts at 8 p.m. at Precinct.
Middlesex Fells trail race
The VERT Fells Trail Race is a 2.3-mile course along the Fells parkways and fire roads. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Middlesex Fells, and runners get a T-shirt and a post race party at Stone Zoo. Sign up here. The race is at 10 a.m. Sunday, starting at 149 Pond St. in Stoneham.
Garden concert
so+so and the Ryan Taylor Band will play Sunday afternoon at the Somerville Community Growing Center. Bring a picnic and listen to some roots music and Americana. It starts at 3 p.m.
Fencing for kids
Bay State Fencers are starting an 8-week fencing class for kids between the ages of 6 and 9 on Sunday. "Fencing is a fantastic youth sport that builds confidence, teaches respect and is just plain fun," their listing says.
