This Weekend in Somerville: Bacon Takedown, Warehouse Book Sale

Also, a beehives bike tour and some other events in Somerville this weekend.

If you have an event you want to publicize on Somerville Patch, you can add it to our calendar here.

Harvard Bookstore warehouse sale
Harvard Bookstore, an independent book seller in Harvard Square, has its warehouse in Somerville, and this weekend it's opening the warehouse doors for a huge sale. There will be books for $1, $2 and $3, and all other used books will be sold for 60 percent off their original price. The sale takes place at 14 Park St. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. More here.

Boston Bacon Takedown 2
The second Boston Bacon Takedown takes place Sunday at The Center for Arts at the Armory. Hormel Black Label Bacon has given 15 pounds of bacon each to 20 locals, who will be showing off their innovative—maybe even strange—bacon recipes. More here and at the event's Facebook page.

Tour de Hives
Join the Somerville Community Growing Center Saturday for a bike tour of beehives in Somerville and Cambridge. The tour starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Growing Center, heads to Inman Square, then to the DeWolfe Boathouse on BU's campus, and finally to the Museum of Science (where you'll need a ticket to see their beehive.) Find more information here and at the tour's Facebook page.

Story time at the farmers market
Parents can bring their 3- to 5-year-old kids to the Union Square Farmers Market Saturday for an hour-long story time. It begins at 10 a.m.

Boston Tango Festival
The tango event steps into high gear over the weekend, including a final Sunday night dance. See our events listings for more information.
