TELL US: From Calls to Mailers, Which Candidate Has Bugged You the Most?

The candidates are into their final push, reaching out to voters in all sorts of ways.

We have just days left until Election Day, and each campaign is into the final stretch.

In many cases, that includes an overwhelming amount of contact with voters, from phone calls to roadside "visibilities," to flyers in the mail and endless television ads.

Regardless of your political stripe, you have likely been subject to most of this. Which part of the final push has bugged you the most? Which candidate have you heard from the most? Tell us in the comments section below.

I am very tired of all the mailer cards, especially from Elizabeth Warren and Tierney. My kids now say "Warren and Tierney are litterbugs" because at least a few days a week, we find her ad cards on our steps and/or walkway; her supporters don't even bother to tuck into door or handle. As if I don't have enough to clean up with all the broken tree limbs & leaves. Most of the time, I will see an ad with Scott Brown's picture on it and I won't even know by a quick glance if it is an ad for or against him, until I determine whether the card was actually put in my mailbox or thrown onto my property. Many of ads for Warren actually feature pretty nice pictures of Scott Brown! I have never received a Tisei or Brown ad anywhere but in my mailbox. Have not received a single ad from either Romney or Obama that I can recall - does that mean one of them has conceded our state to the other?

Am glad we have an unlisted home # and have not received robocalls from anyone--yet.

Seriously? Of course Romney has no chance to win in MA, the state that elected him Governor, Pretty strange considering we elected Brown, a Republican to serve us in the Senate.

The phone calls are killing me. I work from home full-time, so I am constantly being interrupted with my home phone ringing throughout the day. I have received calls from Bill Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Scott Brown, John Tierney, and an 8-year old little girl representing her father, whom I have never heard of. When I do pick up, I say "Hello", then hang up when the recording comes on. What a waste of money! I wish they would pump the money into programs for the state!

Elizabeth Warren not only sent out her false propaganda mailers and had the National Democratic party send out mailers that tell outright lies about her opponent for her as well, but her workers canvassed the neighborhood 3 times door to door and came back even when I told them the first time I was not interested in their candidate.... OBNOXIOUS! It is obvious the National Democratic Party wants the "Kennedy" seat back to hand to Joe Kennedy next time around...

There is some every single day. It is really a waste of money. We do not answer the phone calls. Our home phones speakout the name of the caller so it becomes easy. The emails come in fast and furious too. I can not wait for this to be over. I also can't wait for Obama to get the boot.

Warren's phone calls have been the most annoying--sometimes more than one in the same day. Unbelievable that anyone with such little credibility in so many ways is even stiil in the race. She and her progressive/socialist agenda--including "investing" (which means "spending") taxpayers' hard earned money would be a joke if it weren't so serious and dangerous to our economy and the already unsustainable nationat debt. No one needs her calls or lit.& no one in MA needs her in "the people's seat" in Washington.

If by strange fate, people want to give up their freedoms and elect Warren, we may all need to build a moat like Leonardo, not just from advertising, but from big government.

Elizabeth Warren comes from humble beginnings. Her father was struck with a heart attack when Elizabeth was 12 years. He could not do the work he once did and had to take a job that paid much less money. They could not make payments on their family car and lost it. They did without many material comforts for a long time. Elizabeth when she was only 12 years old and her older 3 brothers all got jobs to help the family survive. Her mother began to work at Sears, as a receptionists to make ends meet. The family was threatened with losing everything and bankrupcy was the next step, but the family worked together to keep it together. Elizabeth went to College on a scholarship the first of her family to go to college. All three of her brothers served in the US Military. When you call her names, and hint that she could not identify or feel the pain she and her family experienced in her early days, you are terribly misinformed and likely have preconceived notions about this great lady. based on false ads. Why call her names, what does that accomplish? You have and know very little substanial truth about Elizabeth Warren. It just sounds like pure hate, when you have to call her names. Yes, she makes lot of money now and it's because she is a very bright and accomplished women and earned her worth, no matter how your try to color it. She could make a lot more money staying out of politics but she wants to help a struggling middle class, for obvious lessons she learned as a kid.

Shay,

I for one am not unhappy about anyone's success. I have an issue with someone who claims to be what they are not. EW is successful and has earned her place on the faculty at Harvard. What I find fault with are her claims to be for the little guy with no evidence of actually doing the work, and her time helping draft Dodd-Frank does not come close, sorry. She has never done what other successful lawyers do and donate her time, she has collected heathly fees along the way. There are scores of lawyers who helped people fight against forclosure, there are scores of lawyers that volunteer for battered women through such things as the Dove Project. So Shay I have no problem with her success, just don't tell me how she has worked her whole life for the middle class or the disadvantaged. EW is a fraud who is running as a puppet of the party and she is ill-equiped for the job.

Anyone who really has been watching & listening to what's been happening these last 4 years--and about 50 or so before that, knows he/she has a critical choice to make Tues.--and it's not just about party or candidates; it's about America. Do you want to keep the democratic republic that our country has been for over 200 years with individual liberties for everyone and the freedom and opportunity for folks to pursue their personal visions of the American Dream--or do you want our country to become the progressive/socialist style government where bureaucrats determine citizens' fates, consistently take from them and promise more than they can give, and spend us into the same situation as Greece. Be careful what you vote for, our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren--and then some-- depend on it.

I agree that it is a critical choice. As you say, I choose a democratic republic with individual liberties for everyone and the freedom and opportunity for folks to pursue their personal visions of the American dream. How do we get that? Clearly in this election it is the Democratic party which is fighting for the lofty ideals of which you speak.

If, however, we want a government of the rich and for the rich, a government which has rejected science, reason, and humanity, then please vote for the GOP. I echo what you said, "Be careful what you vote for, our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren--and then some-- depend on it."

If I had a dollar for each time I have heard this misquote repeated, I’d be a rich by now. There is no record of Churchill ever speaking these words. Actually, Churchill did precisely the opposite. He stated in politics as a Conservative Party member. He switched to the Liberal Party at age 29. He later returned to the Conservative Party at age 49. Furthermore, Churchill would have never made such a statement, which would have certainly insulted his most beloved wife, Clementine, a life-long Liberal. And by the way, the words, Conservative and Liberal refer to the names of two British parties and hardly have the connotations they have in this country.

I mean, they completely abandon the capacity for critical (let alone nimble) thought. "Oooh, which website shall I trust? It's so haaaaaaaard to decide whether The Churchill Library or Yahoo Answers is more reputable and authoritative!!!"

In my experience, people who identify as "conservative" have decided that everything they think they know is good and right and there's not much point to thinking any more.

Bob, your family members and I are using a different definition of liberal. It's not the same as "Democrat." If you're against gay marriage, you're not liberal (or, more accurately, progressive, which is the term I generally prefer). It's really pretty unlikely for a Catholic to be progressive, by definition.

To me, a more appropriate word would have been "depressing," because it is the sad fact of this society. It's (excuse the cliché) "Don’t bother me with facts, son. I’ve already made up my mind” **

It just fits to closely to what he would be thinking at 22 years old. Burt did it and became a star, why not me. You don't pose semi-nude in the same national magazien that Reynolds di because you thought it would be just the thing you needed on your resume to become a US Senator when you grow up. No, there is no way that double standard hog wash should be allowd to stand up. Hey, if he wanted to Mr. Hot Stuff, at 22, no big deal but don't try to tell be this guy is serious man, and don't try to fake it as a US Senator with something to add at this time of great financial threats all aroung. I take the positon of US Senator too seriously. Elizabeth Warren is a pro and one of the most informed and qualified financial experts in land and that is exactly what we need RIGHT now, especially considering the fac and threat to us all that the big banks and financial institutions along with Wall St. have become our mortal enemies and predators. Leanardo,

While I think posing was a poor choice at the time, I cannot agree with the arguement that EW is a pro. She could not even name a Senator that she felt that she could work with, who was still in the Senate. The one she named was defeated in the primary. She is a puppet of the Democratic party and will vote party lines on every issue. EW is not going to be in a position to do anything she promises as one person in a body of 100 anyway. As far as Wall Street, hope your retirement accounts do not take too big a hit after the election if Obama wins and allows the deficit to continue to grow, because you see, we are all effected by Wall Street.

Incumbent Senator Scott Brown has unquestionably served the Commonwealth both ably and faithfully. In fact, at a time of increased polarization and gridlock in Washington, Scott Brown has been one of only a handful of lawmakers genuinely committed to working with both political parties to move the country forward.

His opponent -- a deeply partisan Democrat who once asserted she created “the intellectual foundation” for the radical Occupy Wall Street movement.

Scott Brown’s track record of bipartisanship, as well as his unique across-the-aisle approach to governance, is sorely lacking but desperately needed in Washington. Solving the nation’s myriad challenges -- high unemployment, trillion-dollar-plus deficits, a broken tax code, and so on -- will require increased cooperation between Republicans and Democrats and proven bipartisan leadership in the years ahead. And as the sole GOP federal lawmaker from Massachusetts, Brown has shown -- time and again -- his willingness to cross party lines in support of good legislative ideas irrespective of where they originated.

You seem to forget that Elizabeth Warren was once a Republican who was widely sought after as a political asset. One of the main reasons she left the Republican Party was the new law making it much harder for ordinary everyday Americans to file for Bankruptcy. The Financial Institutions knew they were screwing the American people and also knew that most families could not make the payments as the prices of Medical Insurance, Care For Family Elders, Energey Bills, Food Bills, School Tuition before college and College Costs became so prohibitive that people could not pay their grossly unfair interests rates and therefore started to file for bankruptcy. Elizabeth Warren knew that new law was a terribly unfair to average Americans who could not now, easily file for Bankruptcy any longer after it passed in 2005 or 6. Yet big Auto corporations still could like the one in new lately that Mitt Romney wanted to go bankrupt, so they could start over again, but that was an option taken off the table for the average American and Elizabeth Warren knew it was a screw job to most all of us. She was a Republican, and she left that party because she felt there were many inequities against the average Joe, that Republicans seem to be behind. I believe if she gets elected with Obama she can make a difference and remember it was no accident that was the architect of the Dodd-Franks Consumer Advocacy Bill to make contacts and ads more transparent. If you can't explain it, you can't sell it.

leonardo,

Actually it has always been easy to file for bankruptcy, in fact under the new law you have to take some addtional steps to file. If anything some would argue that until the change, people were using filings without any attempt the pay their debts.
I think that fling makes sense sometimes, but many people used the process to run up credit card debt and walk away. You pay for that in increased fees.
As far as Dodd-Frank, first she was only part of the group and I would argue that most of the provisions were already on the books. The problem with her research was it was flawed and has been called into question by many other lawyers. She was not ahead of the curve at all. I am always intrigued by the concept that saving GM wa a good thing. The fact is that the company was in trouble for years for good reason, they produced bad cars. This can be traced all the way back to the 70's. I would ask you one question, do you buy GM cars every time you buy a car and have you done so for the last 40 years. If not, why does it make sense to protect a company that has been mis-managed for so long.

Unfortuantely, you cannot see that MA was the prize for Warren not getting appointed to that board. I don't think anyone wants to work with her, she's no politician - which is a handicap. She's going to be ineffectual (if elected).

Diana,
The need to assign labels has become too prevalent and to some degree is the reason the government is coming to a grinding halt. Nikki is right; the middle ground is where politicians need to be. People who view the world as one party is right all the time, accomplish little, working together for the greater good is what we should want from our leaders. Jamming things down the throat of the opposition leads to resentment and intransience.
In the end, one person will win and one will lose and if the country cannot move forward one way or another we will all lose. I hope we can get past the name calling and the bashing in the name of party and partisanship come the day after the election. We may find we have more common ground than you think

Ron - I am so tired of all the name calling. You lack facts to back up your premise, that Elizabeth Warren is a "puppet". The same is true of Nikki who seems to think that her old age is justification for her position and relies on false quotes to support her premise. Thank you Leonardo, Quas, and Diana for taking the time and making the effort to bring facts to the discussion. Your ethics and efforts are truly appreciated.

Diane,

let's see, vote for her to keep the Senate from being controled by the Dems. The made up war on woman, the attempt to tie him to other repubicans, the fact that her own party asked her to revamp her campaigne after the convention. Also, please tell me why her ads tie her directly to Obama if she is not in lock step with him. Also, what in her history shows that she was ever going to run for office until the WH picked her to "get the seat back" I could go on, but I doubt you are interested in facts that you do not like. As far as facts, Kate, I am not sure what you are talking about, so I would ask you to explain what you are talking about. Any finally, I am not convinced that the ship is going down at all, you may just need to understand how to work with the winners.

Nikki - I am glad to hear that you too are tired of name calling. It would be nice if as one grows older they become wiser. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Every once in a while you come across an elder who has taken the time to reflect, and read. This is demonstrated in the ability to use facts to win an argument. For those who are capable of this, it is a skill usually learned early in life. We all get old. However few are wise. One thing that I have learned Nikki is that whenever one has a firm conviction on anything and assumes righteousness, the universe usually kicks them in the hiny. Take care.

I am not the one screaming, EW is and big deal I mis-typed a word, you should be so perfect. I love it when left to nothing else to say resort to snide comments and assumptions about the person you with whom you happen to disagree. I am not scared of EW and if fact, my wife is just as if not more qualified than she. I have also worked with many powerful woman that I respect and who have not depended upon misrepresentation of their pasts. So, I guess Diane you can continue to me amazed if you wish, I chose to deal with the facts as presented. One final thought, if you saw EW hide behind the governor at an early news conference when asked about her heritage, you may re-think your position that she is a powerful woman.

Ron I don't think a "puppet" tells her own party I'm leaving you guys because something stinks in Pub Ville. That's not the way it works. What your repeating is what the Financial Institutions, Wall St. and Big Banks say about Warren because they are scared crap of her getting power. Everybody knows this!! and as far not bailing out General Motors, one of your premises you say, is they made bad cars, so let them learn their lesson. However when Wall Street extorted the Federal Goverment to bail them out or risk World Wide financial collaspe, when it is well know fact they they caused the their own problems and their own potential demise by trading faulty securites. More scare tactics so often used in this election. The predatory loan scandal is another example of Big Banks knowingly creating a financial disastor for profit, knowing Goverment (The People ) would have to bail them out because they were "TOO BIG TO FAIL". So we did, but it was a extorted money from the tax-payer. That's why if you have a savings account in a bank now, they give you bird seed as interest for the money you keep there. We are paying for the WHITE COLLAR crimes of these monstrous FInancial Institutions and someone should have gone to jail for it but George W, his justice department and other high ranking officials with Wall St. decided that no one would be prosecuted for their crimes. I wonder why they would that.? So under your premise we should have let Wall St. and the Big Banks just tank???

Leonardo,

Tell me one thing see disagees with the WH on and why do her ads have her with Obama all the time.
There are actually some banks deemed too big to fail under Dodd-Frank. Interest rates are low as an attempt to stimulate lending, and this has nothing to do with the failure of the banks. The Fed sets the rate. To go back to the GM, yes to a degree, for instance, say they continue to make bad cars, should we bail them out again. How about back in the 80's when some of the Mass companies such as Wang went out a business, maybe we should have stepped in and we could still be using word processors. Leonardo, please tell me one thing that was changed at GM, were the managers fired, did they start building much better cars, do you own one. The government can't save everyone, and in this case, it was union jobs that were saved. How about all the non-union workers, oh yeah, there are not worth saving.

Leonardo, was she running for office when she changed parties, no. So what difference does that make, I voted for Clinton, that does not mean I was a democract. It means I voted for a Democrat in that race. She was hand-picked by the WH to run and I cannot see how you can deny this simple fact. She is not interested in the state and has no ties. She is a lawyer who never bothered to be admited to the state bar. She has never worked for the people of this state in any way until she decided to run. Wall Street is not scared of her or anyone, by the way. Any by the way Obama could have decided to prosecute anyone he wished, the statute in limitations had not run. Also, he did nothing when AIG paid the big bonuses after he took office, He looked the other way as well. Why did he do this, was he afraid?

The negative mailers are the worst form of propaganda. Pure "garbage" literally. This year I shredded a few and sent back their remains to the organizations that sent them. If everybody did this I think that it would send a clear message that we don't care to receive them. It also sends back trash that we pay to have hauled away. Believe me, if millions of these were returned progaganda organizations would stop sending them. I'd love to see their offices littered with the same trash they send us.

On the videotape, you can see Granny’s smile freeze on her face. After all, Kim Khazei’s cousin is Alan Khazei — muscled out of the Democratic primary to clear the field for the carpetbagging fake Indian. Was this question payback from Clan Khazei?

Finally, Granny replies, the smile still unmoving. Her voice is frosty.

This mansion of hers is yet another inconvenient truth, upsetting her invented narrative about beginning life on the middle class’ “ragged edge.”

Last year, before giving an interview to New York magazine, her campaign insisted that the house be “off the record.” Last week on NECN, the posh estate was described as a “Victorian fixer-upper.”

Really? According to records, she and her professor husband picked it up for $447,000 in September 1995. The statewide average price in Massachusetts for a home that month was $181,816.

Some fixer-upper. As usual, when Granny gets caught stretching the truth, she stretches it a little further. Here’s what she told Kim Khazei: “You know the phrase ‘a rescue dog?’ This was sort of a rescue house.”

I thought a “rescue dog” was one in danger of being put down. I’m pretty certain Granny’s Linnaean Street mansion, almost 4,000 square feet, was not in such danger. You know her M.O. If you don’t like her current explanation, wait five minutes.

KROFT: Mr. President, this morning you went out of your way to avoid the use of the word terrorism in connection with the Libya Attack, do you believe that this was a terrorism attack?

OBAMA: Well it’s too early to tell exactly how this came about, what group was involved, but obviously it was an attack on Americans. And we are going to be working with the Libyan government to make sure that we bring these folks to justice, one way or the other.

KROFT: It’s been described as a mob action, but there are reports that they were very heavily armed with grenades, that doesn’t sound like your normal demonstration.

OBAMA: As I said, we’re still investigating exactly what happened, I don’t want to jump the gun on this. But your right that this is not a situation that was exactly the same as what happened in Egypt. And my suspicion is there are folks involved in this. Who were looking to target Americans from the start. So we’re gonna make sure that our first priority is to get our folks out safe, make sure our embassies are secured around the world and then we are going to go after those folks who carried this out.

I want my peace. I don't need people bothering me on Saturday and Sunday. I don't care that it's freedom of speech. I have a right to privacy. I made a No Soliciting sign for my door yesterday hoping to have some peace tonight. It says, NO SOLICITING NO POLITICS NO SUBSCRIPTIONS NO RELIGION DO NOT DISTURB UNLESS YOU ARE UPS, FEDEX, USPS, DHL, AUTHORIZED DELIVERY, CLOSE FRIENDS/FAMILY. So far so good. I've shut off the ringer to my phone too. I want my peace of mind.
